Balmoral Little Athletics Club : Family, Fun and Fitness.
Welcome to the Balmoral Little Athletics (LA) Club website. We are a well-established Brisbane athletics club for 5 - 17 year olds. Our club is located on the Stanley Rd entrance to the Clem Jones complex in Carina (see map below right).
Little Athletics promotes that it is important to "Be your Best"®. The emphasis is on fun, participation, performance, technique and getting involved with your family in physical and healthy activity. Little Athletics recognises that children vary widely in shape, size and athletic ability, and is thus one of few sports that successfully caters for them all. Each year across Australia, approximately 95,000 boys and girls enjoy the activities that Little Athletics has to offer.
Balmoral LA 2011 - 2012 Season
Sign-on at the clubhouse 24 August and 31 August 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.
Trials and sign-on 7 September, 14 September. Sign-on 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Trials 6:00 - 7:30 PM. NB. Reduced program for trials.
Competition nights are Wednesdays at 5:30 PM. First competition night is Wed 5 October at our fields cnr Creek & Stanley Roads.
Competition weeks 1 & 2 will double as final trial nights for this season - normal competition program
Last competition night prior to Xmas 7/12
First night competition post Xmas 25/1
Season ends 14th March 2012; 1 week prior to the week of State Titles which are 23rd - 25th March 2012.
Events
The events are set accordingly to age groups. Some examples of the events are:- Sprints & Hurdles, middle and long distance running, walks, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot put, javelin and hurdles.
Athletics Coaching and training
As well as offering guidance to young athletes on club nights, commencing on October 4th, training is available during the season on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Training sessions will cover a variety of events including sprints, jumps, throws and middle distance. All training sessions are conducted by qualified Track & Field coaches. There is no additional charge to attend training sessions for fully registered athletes.
